Using advice - Hypsoé

You just acquired a Hypsoé scented candle.
For maximum enjoyment, let us give you a bit of advice that will make it last even longer!

Using advice

  • Make sure your candle burns for at least 2 hours upon first use, so that its entire surface becomes liquid : the wick will then be « free ». You will avoid the formation of a well in the top surface, and ensure adequate combustion for future uses.
  • However, do not let a candle burn for more than 4 consecutive hours during the first two thirds and then between 1 and 2 hours maximum : since prolonged burning could alter the quality of the fragrance.
  • Periodically make sure that the wick remains vertical, well-centered and not too long (under 1 cm). Do think about cutting the wick with scissors if flame becomes too high. This will prevent the flame from producing too much smoke.
  • If glowing ambers appear at the end of the wick, cut it and do not let it rest on the wax.
  • For multiple-wick candles, always light all the wicks. A candle must burn evenly on its entire surface.
  • During burning, make sure the candle is not placed in a drafty area: wax could melt unevenly and the wick could then become off-center.
  • Extinguish your candle when there is only 0.50 cm of wax left at the bottom of the container. You can put out the candle either by smothering the flame, or by blowing lightly on it. Once put out, let the candle cool off before moving it. Then wait until all wax is solidified before using it again.
  • If your candle comes in a glass container, you can enjoy the convenience of our refill system: you keep the container and can refill it again with a new bar of scented wax. Refills are available for all our fragrances.
